I started my career as an Air Force intelligence analyst. As you can imagine, military generals are notoriously short on time, and often short on patience, so I got very good at reading people and data.
After capping off my military career as an Associate Dean at the Defense Language Institute, I took my skills into the civilian world. I counseled students in higher education, managed multi-million dollar operations for federal and local governments, and represented 1.7 million service members, veterans, and their families in front of the Secretary of Defense as the first female National Security and Foreign Affairs Director for America's largest and oldest combat veteran organization.
Ultimately, though, it wasn't the policy that I cared most about - it was the people.
I founded my business in 2019 so I could concentrate on helping individuals embrace the uncertainty that comes with setting out on a new path.
When I'm not helping my clients, you can usually find me exploring a new place, curled up with a good book, or even penning a few words of my own. My writing has appeared in national outlets including The Atlantic, Clearance Jobs, andTask & Purpose, as well as in the Line of Advance anthology Our Best War Stories: Prize-winning Poetry and Prose from the Col. Darron L. Wright Memorial Awards, and on After the DD-214, the blog I founded to help my fellow veterans navigate post-military life.
I'm a member of the International Coaching Federation and trained through Barefoot Coaching's ICF-accredited training program.
